...with a manual that isn’t extortionately overpriced! it’s on the expensive side, sure, but I’ve seen much, much worse. The DVLA says it’s been without MOT for a few months and the two word description doesn’t instil hope, but the pictures all look good. I haven’t really got the money and don’t want to go that far to get it, so can somebody else please buy it before I end up bankrupting myself...

So stupid that the drift tax evens applies in Europe. You can still get decent examples though.

That does look clean, but the 2-word description is a little offputting :S

TIL there’s a place here called ‘Mold’.

We do like our dodgy place names...

yeah; I don’t get how they got so expensive. the drift culture over here is dominated by plastidipped MX5s and E36s. They exist, but they’re getting a lot rarer, especially since the scrappage scheme took most of the usable cheap ones away

That and the lack of interior pics were definitely red flags, but I’ve dealt with ignorant/awkward people selling stuff in the past, so I really want to give them the benefit of the doubt...

I genuinely thought that Mold was another typo, but checked, and it is a real place

Please don’t remind me of the horrible scrappage scheme. What a clusterfuck that was.

I still don’t know why it happened. some photos surfaced recently showing the airfield all the cars were stored at; from what I know it’s all still there. so many minis... ;_;

AND it’s a turbo! My theory is that ruined S13s are usually turbo or manual or both. It’s the NA Autos that remain untouched, usually.

Love the color. And the stock wheels. It’s nice to know there’s someone out there who can enjoy a cheap and well-balanced sports car without viewing it as a canvas .

No gif can describe how damn sad that is. I don’t know of many desirable cars scrapped in Germany but a lot of good functioning cars were wasted for damn Dacias and Hyundais.

There does seem to be a pattern; any which haven’t been thrashed are always autos. Seeing one like this, especially in a somewhat rare and interesting colour is a nice breath of fresh air. Guaranteed that the drift bro who buys it doesn’t see it that way though :(

Wait, why are there newish Vauxhall/Renault vans among the sea of ‘scrapped’ minis?

it’s terrible, isn’t it, that’s just the start, too... remember that the big rule of this scheme was that the cars were roadworthy, so all these cars were being used before the owners decided that they’d prefer a hyundai i10

Kinja'd!!!

Rows of corrados; probably some VR6s in there too

Kinja'd!!!

S-chassis nissans, all much cleaner than most of what’s now left

Kinja'd!!!

Another photo of the nissans, Though i can see some 300zxs, NB MX5s and sc300s in front of them

Kinja'd!!!

a row of E30s and other 80's BMWs. I can see at least 2 6 serieses

Kinja'd!!!

a whole lot of beetles...

Kinja'd!!!

Some land rovers and Jaguar XJSes

Kinja'd!!!

another angle of the minis, this time with added midget, TR7, triumph herald and 944(?)

Kinja'd!!!

MK1 golfs. Some of these are definitely GTIs, too

Kinja'd!!!

Chrome bumper MGBs... these are pretty valuable now.

Kinja'd!!!

205 GTI. based on what you can see in a few of the other photos, probably not the only one there.

Kinja'd!!!

And just to finish off,an escort RS turbo; people pay an absolute fortune for these now, and here’s one waiting to be crushed.

I think that parts of the airfield also serve as storage for for newer cars/vans waiting to be shipped out.

I can feel the blood boiling in my veins. Damn, I’d seriously consider breaking into this facility and stealing most cars. So sad that most people have no idea what their cars were worth and too lazy to sell the cars themselves. How much is the incentive?

Kinja'd!!! Laurence > FSI - alcohol enthusiast with a car problem
07/21/2016 at 07:45

Kinja'd!!!1

It was about £2000 per car, under the condition that they had a valid MOT and wouldn’t be allowed back onto the road, instead being scrapped. this was in 2009, and most of these photos were taken early 2016...

If i was given the chance, I’d do exactly the same. so many cars there that I’ve wanted since I was a kid.

When I become president I’ll institute a cash for clunkers program.

Then auction them off. Any that don’t get a $500 minimum bid will still get crushed. That should save cool cars in America at least.

God damnit that program pissed me off so bad. ALL THOSE PARTS! Sure, take them off the road or w/e, to be fair most were future refrigerators, but why waste good parts?

Kinja'd!!!2

LongbowMkII for president 2K16

but seriously, yeah. it’s so annoying. I spent 6 months finding my mini, when there were dozens of them which could be made roadworthy again with minimal effort sat in an airfield rotting away. even as spares they’d be perfect. for me

I am fairly certain ALL european market S13s and S14s had the turbo engines.

I like it, but I wouldn’t keep it stock. I wouldn’t molest it either. I’d probably just get coils and aftermarket rims (or not I like those rims alot). I like the paint and clean look too much.

i’d probably be the same. s13s are good, but not perfect. if I got it, I can imagine also getting a few subtle, reversible mods (wheels, coils and a few other small parts) just to make it a little better

They aren’t as nice as the facelift models, but I’ve never understood the pignose hate myself. The early cars are much better at pulling off a two tone like this too

It’s just ugly. The front bumper looks like it’s off a “normal” car, but it has pop-ups. The face-lift model (which was my first car) smooths out the nose and makes it fit way better. The only upside to the pignose is JDM Silvia clear/amber signals plug right in.

fair enough, I’d much rather have a facelift car but they’re even harder to find in as good condition as this
